Voila Gallery- freakishly beautiful

A housewares studio in LA with deliciously reworked vintage furniture, art and fixtures- Voila Gallery. I have a very large soft spot for functional art, I am one who has to justify my purchases and function makes it so... I finally have a good reason to visit LA again.

Brilliant Paper Hats by Stuart McLachlan

One of my favorite kids e-zines LMNOP has a gorgeous photo essay featuring Stuart's hats. You can see more of his work here.  Not only do I adore finding a new artist to admire, but Stuart's work has my mind bending and my head spinning. So brilliant!
He is what I am all about- taking a simple material and using it to capture an imaginary world, promoting  magical thinking in children and adults alike.

The Art of Living Cheerfully

Persisting Stars has a photography and meditation e-course beginning November 14th.

The overview captured me:
~ live a creative , extraordinary, and impassioned life,
~ explore our artistic natures and express ourselves creatively by realizing creativity extends beyond our art into the way we live our daily life
~ clear negative energies and people from our lives
~ discover techniques to uplift our joy and energy
~ delve into the art of the self portrait through photography
~ rejuvenate our creative living spaces
~ embrace a healthful way of living through food, meditation, exercise and much more.

What a fantastic way to lead into a new year with some good tools in your possession and from the comfort of your own home! If anyone enrolls, please let me know, I would love to chat about it.

Jacob Hashimoto- prepare to *gasp*

A childhood friend who grew into a mind-blowing artist and a man after my own heart- Jacob Hashimoto.  I love the prints, the colors, the movement, the repetition. Serene and exciting at the same time.

Another Reason Why Portland is the Best!

Canvas Art Bar and Bistro located in NW Portland.  I want to go here!!! You order your canvas and medium choices off a menu for an affordable price and have live models, music, and art to inspire you as you dine and drink wine. Their aim:

"To inspire the mind, feed the soul and to foster community. How, you may ask? Through accessible, affordable art packages you can make in the space with your friends and family!
Yes, we have beer and wine, and a delicious menu of fresh and healthy foods. We also have books, art, models, film and musicians to keep the creative juices flowing! So give yourself a much-needed outlet. Soak in the inspiration. Discover or recover your inner artist. And let the world delight in the imagination, illumination and beautiful creation that is you! You are our muse. And we are your canvas."

Love it!!!
